Day 102: Wildflowers

These wildflowers appeared in my neighbor's yard. Couldn't resist that bright color for the picture today.

"Men do change, and change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass." -John Steinbeck

Day 101: Tulip Buds

A few weeks ago I took a photo of the tulip shoots springing from the ground. Now the colorful buds are there and soon they will open. (Guess what my picture for the day will be then.)

"Thought is the blossom; language the bud; action the fruit behind it." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Day 100: Parking Garage

Day 100! I can't believe I have made it this far and have yet to miss a day. Only 265 photographs left. The repetition and structure of the stairs of the parking garage stuck out to me.

"Never look backwards or you'll fall down the stairs." -Rudyard Kipling

Day 99: Blinds

I was trying to decide what to take a picture of for the day and noticed the interesting texture and detail of the blind pull.

"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today." -Dale Carnegie

Day 98: NighttimeCars

I attempted the long shutter to catch the motion of the car. It's an interesting technique and may try it again. Not one of my favorite shots I've taken.

"It's like driving a car at night. You never see further than your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way." -E. L. Doctorow

Day 97: Daffodil

Another gorgeous sign of spring! The daffodils are in full bloom.

"What is meant by 'reality'? It would seem to be something very erratic, very undependable--now to be found in a dusty road, now in a scrap of newspaper in the street, now a daffodil in the sun. It lights up a group in a room and stamps some casual saying." -Virginia Woolf

Day 96: Lamp

The one time I did not take my camera to Pittsburgh on Sabbath is the day that I find a million things to photograph! Oh, well. When I got home that evening I took this shot. The quote is quite interesting too. The Bible is our compass. Without it we would still have the same obligations, but we would just be lost.

"Sink the Bible to the bottom of the sea, and man's obligation to God would be unchanged. He would have the same path to tread, only his lamp and his guide would be gone; he would have the same voyage to make, only his compass and chart would be overboard." -Henry Ward Beecher

Day 95: Nail Polish

A little nail polish color!

"Luck consists largely of hanging on by your fingernails until things start to go your way." -Aaron Allston

Day 94: Apple

An apple a day keeps the doctor away!

"Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed." -Robert H. Schuller

Day 93: Cracked Paint

This is another building on W&J campus. The paint on the windowsill is almost gone on many of the windows.

"A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside." -Denis Waitley

Day 92: Doorknob 3

Couldn't resist taking another photo of a doorknob!

"A clever, imagination, humorous request can open closed doors and closed minds. " -Percy Ross

Day 91: W&J Science Building

This is the newest building that opened in the fall on the W&J campus. The rain was really bad this day so the clouds were great that evening after it stopped. It seems endless.

"If life's journey be endless where is its goal? The answer is, it is everywhere. We are in a palace which has no end, but which we have reached. By exploring it and extending our relationship with it we are ever making more and more our own." -Rabindranath Tagore

Day 90: After Prom

On Sunday everyone enjoyed getting together for lunch and playing football outside. This is one of the lovely little girls I get to see almost every week. She can always make me laugh and is quite a champ at the card game war.

"The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives." -Albert Einstein

Day 89: Pittsburgh Prom

The Pittsburgh Prom was Saturday, April 2. All of the girls were dressed up. I missed not dressing up with everyone, but had a fun evening bowling instead. Here is Kristen and two of her friends before the dance started.

"For age is opportunity no less than youth itself, though in another dress, and as the evening twilight fades away, the sky is filled with stars, invisible by day," -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Sorry for the Delay

You would never guess it, but school, home, and life is extremely busy right now. I have continued to take a photograph each day and will hope to update it soon. They will hopefully be up soon! I haven't forgotten.

Day 88: More Signs of Spring

I love watching our forsythia bushes change with the seasons. In early spring they get these yellow flowers (which are just starting to bud).

"Let the gentle bush dig its root deep and spread upward to split the boulder." -Carl Sandburg

Day 87: Doorknob 2

I said that I could make a whole portfolio based on doorknobs. Here is number 2!

"Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing that we see too late the one that is open." -Alexander Graham Bell

Day 86: Pearls

There is just something about the natural shine and beauty of a string of pearls.

"All art is autobiographical; the pearl is the oyster's autobiography." -Federico Fellini

Day 85: B&W 6

This is the top of our front door. The double pane window makes a great reflection.

"If a window of opportunity appears, don't pull down the shade." -Tom Peters

Day 84: Glue

Elmer's glue isn't as useful as duct tape, but is a good second when you are trying to fix something.

"The glue that holds all relationships together-- including the relationship between the leader and the led is trust, and trust is based on integrity." -Brian Tracy

Day 83: Fireplace

If only our fireplace actually worked instead of just a display. the chimney was blocked when my parents bought the house and they just kept it that way.

"He who wants to warm himself in old age must build a fireplace in his youth." -German Proverb

Day 82: Clock

An analog clock in a world full of digitals!

"Quiet minds can't be perplexed or frightened, but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm." -Robert Louis Stenson
